Our History

The International Sikh Sports Council was established on June 30, 2015, with a heartfelt mission to rejuvenate the illustrious image of Kesadhari Sikhs on national and international sports platforms. Founded by individuals deeply devoted to the Sikh Panth, the council aims to increase the presence of Sikh athletes, particularly those with unshorn hair, and restore their prominence in the world of sports.

Our Mission and Objectives:

The primary goal of our trust is to identify and support talented Sikh athletes, providing them with the necessary resources and guidance to excel in their respective sports. We are dedicated to hosting national and international competitions, creating opportunities for Sikh players to showcase their skills and achieve recognition. By fostering a supportive environment, we motivate and help these athletes reach their full potential.

A Legacy in Hockey

Hockey, the national game of India, holds a special place in the hearts of Punjabis. The game evolved from "Khido-Khundi," and over the decades, turbaned Sikh players have dominated the field, captivating audiences worldwide with their skill and prowess. Despite the changing trends of fashion and society leading to a decline in the number of Kesadhari players, our council is committed to reviving this legacy and restoring their rightful place in the sport.

Empowering Sikligar Sikhs

Sikligar Sikhs, known for their unwavering commitment to Sikhi, have often been marginalized. Living in various parts of the country, many Sikligar Sikhs face poverty, yet their passion for maintaining unshorn hair remains steadfast. Our trust aims to elevate their living standards and provide their children with quality education and opportunities in sports. By doing so, we hope to empower these communities and ensure their continuous contribution to the Sikh legacy.

Commitment to Social Service

In line with Guru Nanak’s principle of "sewa," the International Sikh Sports Council engages in various social service activities. We organize blood donation camps, tree planting initiatives for a cleaner environment, and other community service projects. Our commitment to service extends beyond sports, aiming to uplift and support the broader Sikh community.

The International Sikh Sports Council is dedicated to honoring and preserving the rich heritage of the Sikh community in sports, providing a platform for Sikh athletes to shine, and fostering a culture of excellence, service, and unity.
